From the fields to your palate, from the Silk Road to the world—the 2025 Xinjiang province "Silk Road Food Station" project has been fully launched, and Changji's grain and oil processing sector is making a strong showing.
On August 16th, the "2025 Xinjiang Silk Road Food Festival," co-organized by the Xinjiang Department of Culture and Tourism, the Department of Commerce, the Changji Prefecture People's Government, and the World Federation of Chinese Cuisine, grandly opened at the Xinjiang Agricultural Expo Park in Changji City. Compared to last year, this year's event added a "Silk Road Grain and Oil Industry Chain Theme Day," bringing grain and oil processing and oil pressing to the forefront, becoming another Xinjiang industry brand to the world, following tomatoes and wine.
I. Good Oils Come from Good Bases: The Golden Planting Belt in the Northern Foothills of the Tianshan Mountains
Changji Prefecture, located at 44° north latitude in the world's golden belt for grain and oil production, boasts significant day-night temperature swings and long hours of sunshine. By 2024. the area planted with oilseed crops will exceed 2.1 million mu (approximately 1.5 acres), with rapeseed, sesame, sunflower, and cottonseed being the four main crops. Leveraging irrigation from Tianshan snow and weakly alkaline sandy loam soil, the raw material oil content averages 2.3 percentage points higher than inland areas, providing an inherent advantage for oil pressing.
II. Smart Factory + Green Pressing: Locking "Farm Fragrance" into "Bottled Freshness"
The "Silk Road Oil Innovation Factory" at the Changji National Agricultural Industrial Park, which commenced operations simultaneously with the opening ceremony, became a focal point. Jointly developed by the Xinjiang Grain and Oil Group, Henan Huatai, and Jiangsu Myande, the factory, with a total investment of 1.2 billion RMB, processes 600.000 tons of oil annually. Key highlights include:
Low-temperature pressing technology: The entire process is kept at ≤80°C, preserving natural vitamin E and phytosterols, and controlling the acid value to less than 0.8mg/g;
Fully automated "dark workshop": Robotic palletizing, AGV unmanned forklifts, and MES system online monitoring increase per capita efficiency by 300%;
"Zero-boiler" clean energy: Utilizing photovoltaics and air-source heat pumps instead of coal, energy consumption per ton of oil is reduced by 42%, reducing carbon emissions by 36.000 tons per year.
At the event, the World Federation of Chinese Cuisine awarded the factory the title of "Silk Road Healthy Oil Demonstration Production Base."
III. "Food + Technology" Scene Show: 3-kilometer Drone Delivery, Bringing Freshly Pressed Rapeseed Oil to the Grill
In the drone delivery demonstration area, visitors scanned a QR code to place their order. A robot filled 500ml of "Tianshan Extra Virgin" rapeseed oil in the pressing workshop and delivered it to the barbecue area 300 meters away within three minutes, achieving a "pressing to table" delivery time of less than 10 minutes. This model has completed flight testing at six venues, including Changji Snack Street and the Xinjiang Grand Theater, providing a replicable model for future "factory-to-scenic-table" instant delivery.
IV. Standards First: Changji Prefecture Releases Xinjiang-wide "Group Standard for Specialty Edible Vegetable Oils"
At the opening ceremony of the Food Festival, the Changji Prefecture Market Supervision Bureau and the Xinjiang Cereals and Oils Research Institute jointly released the "Group Standard for Specialty Edible Vegetable Oils." These standards set "Changji Strict Selection" thresholds for 12 key indicators, including acid value, peroxide value, benzopyrene, and trans fatty acids. Simultaneously, an "oil traceability code" was launched online. Consumers can scan the code to view the raw material origin, pressing batch, inspection report, and logistics route, truly achieving "one bottle, one code, and full transparency."
V. Industry Outlook: Building a Hundred-Hundred-Billion-RMB Grain and Oil Deep Processing Cluster by 2027
The Changji Prefecture government announced on-site that it will use this food festival as an opportunity to implement the "Silk Road Oil Depot" three-year action plan:
• Build six demonstration lines for deep processing of specialty oilseeds, focusing on the development of high-value-added products such as sesame omega-3. sunflower lecithin, and cottonseed protein;
• Establish the "Silk Road Oil and Fats Innovation Alliance" and build a joint laboratory with Jiangnan University and Henan University of Technology;
• Create a regional public brand called "Changji Good Oil," striving to achieve a comprehensive output value of 100 billion RMB and export volume exceeding 2 billion RMB by 2027. truly bringing "Xinjiang's fine grains and oils" to global dining tables.
As the sound of camel bells along the millennia-old Silk Road meets the roar of modern factory machinery, each grain of oilseed undergoes a magnificent transformation from "field crop" to "cultural symbol." The 2025 Xinjiang Silk Road Food Festival is not only a feast for the taste buds, but also a high-quality leap forward for the grain and oil processing industry. Luoyang Zhaoge Environmental Protection Technology, with the "CHOCOMACH" fully automatic hydraulic oil press, sets out from Luoyang and spreads its fragrance to the world. It uses technological oil pressing and green leadership to empower China's oil and fat industry and usher in a golden age together.
